Golden Hour Photo Session at Hammonasset Beach State Park, Madison CT

There’s nothing quite like a golden August evening at Hammonasset Beach State Park — Connecticut’s largest shoreline park located along the beautiful Long Island Sound. The soft light, warm breeze, and open sky make it one of my favorite destinations for couples’ portraits. When Valentina and William chose this stunning Madison location for their post-wedding photoshoot, I knew it would be something truly special.

A Summer Evening at Hammonasset Beach

Hammonasset Beach State Park offers everything a photographer could dream of: long stretches of sandy shoreline, coastal dunes, and the sound of gentle waves creating a peaceful, romantic atmosphere. We began Valentina and William’s session near the boardwalk, where the late afternoon sunlight glowed across the water, wrapping the couple in a golden haze.

As the sun dipped lower, they walked barefoot along the beach — laughing, holding hands, and simply enjoying being together. The session felt effortless and deeply genuine. There’s something timeless about photographing love after the wedding day — when the celebration has quieted, but the connection remains radiant and real.

Why Hammonasset Beach Is Perfect for Couple and Wedding Portraits

For couples looking for romantic beach photos in Connecticut, Hammonasset Beach State Park is a dream location. It offers:

• Gorgeous sunsets over the Long Island Sound

• Natural coastal landscapes with sea grass and dunes

• Plenty of space for both intimate moments and scenic wide shots

• Easy access from towns like Madison, Guilford, and Old Saybrook

Whether you’re planning a post-wedding session, anniversary shoot, or simply want to celebrate your love in a beautiful natural setting, Hammonasset provides the perfect blend of elegance and calm.

Valentina and William’s Timeless Coastal Portraits

Valentina and William wanted their photos to feel serene and romantic — a reflection of their love story after the wedding day. They chose light, neutral tones that complemented the beach mood perfectly. Every image captured their quiet joy and deep connection, framed by the soft hues of the August sky.

These portraits tell a story of love that continues beyond the wedding day — grounded, joyful, and timeless.

Planning a Post-Wedding Session in Connecticut

If your wedding day flew by (as they often do!) and you’d love more time for relaxed, cinematic portraits, a post-wedding photoshoot is a wonderful way to reconnect and celebrate. The best time to photograph at Hammonasset Beach is early morning or golden hour, when the light is soft and the beach is peaceful.

I love helping couples plan sessions that feel natural and true to them — whether that’s barefoot in the sand or dressed in wedding attire one more time as the sun sets over the Sound.
